Congratulations to the recipients of the 2022 Greater Victoria Regional Arts Awards!
The 2022 Greater Victoria Regional Arts Awards Program was an evening of celebration and networking featuring the announcement of the recipients of the 2022 Greater Victoria Regional Arts Awards, and recognition of our colleagues whom have contributed to the arts and culture community.
Members of the regional arts and business community gathered in celebration of artists and the incredible work that they do in the Greater Victoria, Capital Region.
This year’s awards were presented to recipients at an in person reception at KWENCH, 2031 Store St., in Victoria.
Awards presented:
- Witness Legacy Award for Social Purpose and Responsibility through Art recognizes artists who use their artistic practice for positive social or environmental change. Includes a $500 prize.
* Presented to Jessie Demers - ProArt Early-Career Artist Award recognizes the potential of an early-career artist. Includes a $500 prize. The 2021 PARC Retirement Living award recipient, June Yeo, was invited to select the 2022 ProArt Early-Career Artist Award recipient.
* Presented to Alexander Taylor-McCallum - Parc Retirement Living Mid-Career Artist Award recognizes contributions made by a local mid-career artist. Includes a $2,000 prize.
* Presented to Mercedes Bátiz-Benét - UVic, Fine Arts Student Community Impact Awards recognizes undergraduate students who have demonstrated an outstanding effort in a community engaged creative activity in Greater Victoria. Includes a $1,000 funding prize for each recipient.
* Presented to Isolde Roberts-Welby, and Tori Jones - City of Victoria Creative Builder Award recognizes an individual working behind the scenes who has worked to build the community. Includes a $3,000 prize.
* Presented to Andrew Barrett - CRD Arts Commission Regional Impact Award recognizes outstanding impact by a local festival/event/organization. Includes a $5,000 prize.
* Presented to Esquimalt Community Arts Hub (ECAH) - JAYMAC Outstanding Production Award, awarded to a locally produced performing arts production. Sponsored by the JAYMAC Fund through the Victoria Foundation. Includes a $15,000 prize.
* Presented to Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre - John Mears Achievement in Music Award, recognizes a demonstrated commitment to the success of the arts community in the region, and potential to achieve success in the future. Includes a $2,000 prize.
* Presented to Chelsea Kutyn - Tributes and Recognitions
We would like to take a moment to give our thanks to members of the arts community that have left to work elsewhere, those that have retired.
