Congratulations to the recipients of the 2021 Greater Victoria Regional Arts Awards!
The 2021 Greater Victoria Regional Arts Awards Program was an evening of celebration and networking featuring the announcement of the recipients of the 2021 Greater Victoria Regional Arts Awards, and recognition of our colleagues whom have contributed to the arts and culture community.
Members of the regional arts and business community gathered in celebration of artists and the incredible work that they do in the Greater Victoria, Capital Region.
This year’s awards were presented to recipients at the Charlie White Theatre, Mary Winspear Centre in Sidney.
Awards presented:
- Witness Legacy Award for Social Purpose and Responsibility through Art recognizes artists who use their artistic practice for positive social or environmental change. Includes a $500 prize.
* Presented to Kate Rubin and the William Head On Stage Theatre Society - ProArt Early-Career Artist Award recognizes the potential of an early-career artist. Includes a $500 prize. The 2020 PARC Retirement Living award recipient, Krystal Cook, was invited to select the 2021 ProArt Early-Career Artist Award recipient.
* Presented to Sarah Jim - Parc Retirement Living Mid-Career Artist Award recognizes contributions made by a local mid-career artist.
Includes a $2,000 prize.
* Presented to June Yeo - UVic, Fine Arts Student Community Impact Awards recognizes undergraduate students who have demonstrated an outstanding effort in a community engaged creative activity in Greater Victoria. Includes a $1,000 funding prize for each recipient.
* Presented to Alison Roberts, Kyla Fradette, and Dani Neira - City of Victoria Creative Builder Award recognizes an individual working behind the scenes who has worked to build the community. Includes a $3,000 prize.
* Presented to Rebecca Hass - CRD Arts Commission Regional Impact Award recognizes outstanding impact by a local festival/event/organization.
Includes a $5,000 prize.
* Presented to Intrepid Theatre and Puente Theatre’s conVERGE residency and mentorship program - JAYMAC Outstanding Production Award, awarded to a locally produced performing arts production. Sponsored by the JAYMAC Fund through the Victoria Foundation. Includes a $15,000 prize.
* Presented to Theatre SKAM for their body of work over the past year - Tributes and Recognitions

- The Mary Winspear Centre is proud to sponsor the 2021 Greater Victoria Regional Arts Awards. With grant funding from FACTOR Canada, the Centre was able to purchase state-of-the-art filming and broadcasting equipment this past year. This equipment will benefit the local arts and culture community by providing an opportunity to produce digital content locally and affordably. The Arts Awards will mark the first event that this equipment will be used to livestream the broadcast from the Charlie White Theatre. We look forward to working with the ProArt Alliance in the future and want to congratulate this year’s award recipients.
