The 2020 Greater Victoria Regional Arts Awards reception will take place on Saturday, October 3, 5-6pm as an online event.

The awards program will be live-streaming on-location from a variety of arts facilities across the Greater Victoria region with each site presenting one of the award categories, the award sponsors, and this year’s recipients.

The Greater Victoria Regional Arts Awards has expanded this year to include some new award sponsors that honour local artists and organizations creating work in the region over the last year. Awards to be presented include:

• The Parc Retirement Mid-Career Artist Award recognizes contributions made by a local mid-career artist. Includes a $2,000 prize.

• The CRD Arts Commission Regional Impact Award recognizes outstanding impact by a local festival/event/organization.Includes a $5,000 prize.

• The City of Victoria Creative Builder Award recognizes an individual working behind the scenes who has worked to build the community. Includes a $3,000 prize.

• The JAYMAC Outstanding Production Award, awarded to a locally produced performing arts production, includes a $15,000 prize.

• Witness Legacy Award for Social Purpose and Responsibility through Art recognizes artists who use their artistic practice for positive social or environmental change. Includes a $500 prize.

• The ProArt Early-Career Artist Award recognizes the potential of an early-career artist. Includes a $500 prize.

• Critics Choice Awards, five awards recognizing the outstanding work being produced in theatre.
